Academic Advising
Skyline University College has an effective Academic Advising scheme under the name of ’Continuous Development & Career Planning Scheme (CODE & CAPS)’ for students. As CODE & CAPS has helped the academic performance of students in the past, we are ambitious to achieve more under this scheme. The objective of CODE & CAPS is to help students achieve a higher degree of academic performance through the processes of planning and development of their study, growth, and a career that would lead to a prosperous future, while they are studying in Skyline University College
.A faculty member of
Skyline University College,
who has the closest expertise relevant to the student’s major field of study, is
assigned to the group of students as ’Advisor‘.
Every student is assigned to an Advisor at the time of admission. Students
can count on the Advisor for information about courses, accessing College facilities
and academic support units, and guidance on how to perform better in their courses
and programs of study.
The following are the goals of the
Academic Advising scheme:

Monitoring the progress of the students continuously.
·
Implementing and communicating information about academic policies, procedures and
graduation requirements.
·
Assisting students in clarifying their academic goals and objectives.
·
Providing individual and/or group advising opportunities to assist students in achieving
academic success.
·
Making referrals and directing students to appropriate academic support units and
resources.
·
Demonstrating a high level of professionalism and consistently maintaining confidentiality
in advising / counseling matters.
STUDENTS’
RIGHTS:
Students will have the right of
timely access to an assigned advisor, the right to receive pertinent and accurate
information as needed for academic and career planning and the right to make their
own decisions.
STUDENTS’
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following are the responsibilities
f the students to make the scheme work effectively or their optimum benefit:
1.
Make an effort to get to know their advisor.
2.
Maintain an academic advising and career-planning file.
3.
Know the degree requirements and other relevant academic policies and procedures.
4.
Complete academic requirements in a timely manner.
5.
Initiate timely career and academic inquiries and discussions with advisor.
6.
Make regular progress in appointments and also meet advisor for assistance when
questions or problems arise.
7.
Prepare a list of questions or concerns prior to meeting with the advisor.
8.
Be considerate to the advisor’s schedule of advising appointments and arrive
promptly.
9.
Take responsibility of their decisions.
10. Provide regular feedback of CODE & CAPS and the advisor.
