CAREER DEVOLOPMENT PROGRAM

Skyline University College provides opportunities and resource for career development, Internships and Placement of its students. The College has systems in guiding the students to choose and pursue a career path , advising in acquiring an internship and gaining the students full-time, part-time and summer jobs.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (CDP)

CDP is available to a student in the college right from the point of entry and guides the student in various phases throughout the study period. The phases are as follows:

Point of enrolment :

• Interview : an initial interview conducted by Marketing & Registration personnel helps in assessing the area of student’s career choice and interest. Subsequent counseling is made to assist the student in selecting his major.

During the course of study:

• Students take up courses like speech, organizational communication, computer skills to learn skills required at preparation of slides, presentation of topics; Business related letters, reports etc. also provide them adequate knowledge of business communication.

• Students are encouraged to be members of various academic & non academic activities conducted by the College. This enables them to build qualities like leadership, organizational skills, team management, personnel management, etc.

• Students are also given opportunities to participate in professional exhibitions like GETEX, ATM, Dubai Air show, etc. for their personal development.

• Students undertake courses like writing projects, research methods, etc. that help in enhancing their course knowledge of the major chosen

• Students write a project on an area of their major thus establishing a practical approach to their existing theoretical knowledge.

• Students undertake technical visits & practical tours of industries related to their major-banking industry, manufacturing units, airports, tourism development projects, etc. This provides them a first hand experience of their career related industry.

• Students start their work on a independent piece of work toward dissertation. The topic is based on some aspect of the industry they would soon be a part of. An interaction with the real world, in many cases occurs at this point. The research report provides the student with a meaningful insight into the industry.

• Students attend the ‘Professional Development course’, herein they learn to write Professional CV’s, cover letters, learn interview techniques, etc.
• Students are familiarized with job search tools e.g. Employment agencies, internet based career resources etc.
• Internship. Opportunities are made available to students in the industry of their future careers. An 8 weeks internship provides the students a stepping-stone to & hands on experience of the industry they would soon be employed in. Students work in various departments like Marketing & Sales, Human Resource, Finance and other areas related to their major.
• On-campus interviews are conducted by interested companies.
• Graduates interested in higher education are assisted in graduate school resources.
• After Graduation, the placement cell co-ordinates with various companies in getting our students placed.

• Alumni are kept informed of any new courses launched at Skyline so that they could benefit from the same.
• Alumni are also contacted when vacancies for mid/senior level need to be filled in at the request of companies.
