Skyline University College was established In 1990 to respond effectively and innovatively to the educational and training needs of students in the Travel & Tourism Management, Business, Marketing and Computing areas and their related business sectors. Since its inception, the pragmatic approach of the College has recognized the non oil revenues generated out of trade and tourism in the Northern Emirates. Hence, the College made its mark as one of the first institutions to offer a fine blend of academic and professional education in these specializations at a time when education was at its infancy in the UAE.

 

The tremendous growth of the UAE economy fuelled the need for high quality business education to meet the requirements of qualified manpower in various sectors of International Business, Marketing, Travel and Tourism and Information Technology. Skyline University College offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major in four areas of study – Travel & Tourism Management, Information Systems, International Business, and Marketing in order to meet the expected demand for business professionals.

 

Skyline University College moved to its premises in 1995 to accommodate a 20% growth in its student population each year, by occupying a campus of more than three acres of land equipped with the required resources. In July’ 06, Skyline has reached to another milestone in it’s growth by moving to a bigger premises and the state of the art purpose built campus in the University City, Sharjah built in an area of 40 acres of land.

Accreditations

Skyline University College is approved and its programs are accredited by the Commission on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the Ministry of Education (Higher Education), UAE. The Skyline University College degree is accepted for admission into Graduate and Post Graduate Programs by Higher Education Institutions worldwide.

 

Academics

Skyline University College has taken proactive steps to maintain its relationship with industries. This ensures that the curriculum is kept abreast of the latest developments and proper employment and internship opportunities that are identified to the students.

 

Internship / Practicum

 

 

The University has an inbuilt internship / practicum program which provides industry exposure to all its students in all the majors. This helps students to relate classroom experience with hands-on industry experience. The internship activities generally focus on businesses like multinational companies, trading establishments, limited liability companies, manufacturing companies, airlines, travel agencies, airports, banks, IT companies, financial establishments and other business sectors. The internship program requires a specific number of hours at work as well as regular contact with the faculty monitor and other students participating in the program. The faculty monitor supervises and evaluates the student’s internship experience. Students are also expected to evaluate their own experiences through meetings with the Professor and other interns and through preparation of course assignments. Such internships may subsequently lead to employment too.

 

Placement Cell

 

The University has a dedicated Placement Cell, which actively works towards finding suitable placement for graduating students and furthering their higher educational needs. The University, however, does not guarantee placement. The Placement Cell is primarily responsible for proper placement of our students upon completion of the required courses. The Placement Cell co-ordinates with organizations / industries in providing graduating students the opportunity of internship and subsequent placement in various industries in line with their majors.

 

Costs

 

The University offers a competitive and affordable education with a facility to pay tuition fees in monthly installments to facilitate students convenience

 

Scholarships

 

The University offers academic and need based, work-study scholarships to its students. Students are required to apply for need-based scholarships. More details can be obtained from the Student Service Department.

 

Extra Curricular Activities

 

The University provides its students a wealth of opportunities for complete personality development. The extra curricular activities include sports – both indoor and outdoor, year round cultural activities, debate competitions, etc.

 

Location

 

In September’ 06, achieving another milestone, Skyline University College moved to a new purpose built state-of-the-art campus spread over an area of 40 acres, located in the University City of Sharjah. It is barely a 10 minutes drive from Dubai City Center and provides all facilities for academic and extra-curricular pursuits of students.

 

Housing

 

The University provides safe, secure housing facilities for both male and female students. The facilities are within city limits and are with an easy access to shopping centers, restaurants, hospitals, etc. For male students, the University has an agreement with furnished apartment promoters to provide twin-sharing accommodation at very reasonable cost. While providing the related amenities and facilities for the place, they are segregated and housed in a separate wing from the normal guests of the furnished apartment. Some of the recreational facilities such as gym are available for their use. Hostel facility is also available for female students on single or sharing basis.

 

Transport

 

Skyline University College provides air-conditioned transport facilities at an additional fee, for the convenience of students coming from Sharjah and the neighboring Emirates of Dubai, Ajman , Umm Al Quwain and Ras Al Khaimah.
